Most people know the beaches of Cornwall but this tour explores some of the hidden gems off the beaten track.

 

Take a walking tour of Mousehole guided by a local historian; discover the Tremenhere Sculpture Gardens - an artistic paradise; walk on the cliffs at Land's End and photograph the wilds of the coast made famous by Ross Poldark.

 

Visit Nanquidno Valley, which is completely hidden and far from the crowds. Here you will meet a local farmer who has re-introduced choughs to the cliffs through a breeding project, and his wife ,who makes delicious traditional Cornish Hevva cake.

Having worked in the travel business for 30 years, arranging trips to far flung destinations, Yvette felt it was time to showcase her wonderful home town and started offering small group tours in Cornwall.

Hidden gems of Cornwall

  • The tour is set for anyone wanting to discover some of the more hidden gems of West Cornwall

  • Includes dinner, bed & breakfast

  • Maximum group size of 6

  • Overnight accommodation included at The Old Coastguard in Mousehole. 

Itinerary

Day 1. Arrive in Mousehole


Cornish cream tea on arrival in a coastal cafe looking out on to the Rockpool of Mousehole. Sunset walk at Lands End to the hole in the rock.




Day 2. St Michael's Mount & other gems


Sunrise visit for photographing St Michael's Mount at dawn. Hopefully with low tide. Visit Tremenheere Sculpture garden and Godrevy Lighthouse (the setting of Virginia Wolf); walk on the cliffs / beach to the seal breeding colony; continue to Porthkidney Beach - a hidden beach with golden sands. End the day with a visit to the Tate Gallery in St Ives.




Day 3. Wildlife & Poldark!


Visit to Nanquidno - chough breeding project and Hevva cake! Drive to Porthcurno to photograph the waves and see the basking sharks / seals. Walk to Porth Chapel Drive to Cape Cornwall and visit the remains of the beacon light point which was given as a gift by the company Heinz and you can see some of the ship wrecks along this part of the coast. Drive to Botallack Tin Mine , which is the setting of Poldark and to visit the historic tin mine on the cliffs.




Day 4. Historic walking tour


Historic walking tour of Mousehole with a local historian leave by lunch time.
