Sustainability and values
These activities revolve around nature and the outdoors, and consequently this supplier does absolutely everything they can to protect it and enhance it. They operate a 'Leave No Trace' policy. In their woodland site all rubbish is removed and recycled correctly. Everything from food waste to the toilet is composted, and then used within the woodland to support the growth of trees and plants. The team carefully and gently manage the woodland and work with an ecologist to make sure they protect, preserve and provide for the flora and fauna within and around the woodland. Ecologically friendly products are used for cleaning and minimise water wastage. They are continually researching the best ways to care for the environment and always looking for alternatives to improve and lessen their impact.
They teach everyone who visits about the impact we have on the environment. The idea is to leave with an understanding of how our day-to-day lives have an impact on the planet and how small changes can be made to reduce this impact.
Food is sourced from small local businesses to support local communities and livelihoods as well as ensuring the distance travelled / carbon footprint is minimal. Even their business cards are made from the recycled waste generated from the t-shirt making industry and are 100% recycled cotton.
This operator provides opportunities to learn and develop navigation, expedition and survival skills to young people through the local cadet unit. They are also exploring opportunities to support the local community through walking groups for older people who may be living alone or who do not have a lot of access to facilities or opportunities to meet friends.
"Reconnect with yourself and with nature"
Owned and run by husband and wife team Sarah and Daniel. The idea was developed through personal experiences and understanding of the power and beauty of nature, the outdoors and adventure. They have both always enjoyed being outdoors, growing up in Plymouth and spending time in the woodlands nearby.
